The Robert Helps Trust at the University of South Florida has offered its verdict: Cortège is a not simply a post-dated name for Adagio for orchestra (as we have previously believed) — it is a separate composition!

For the Monument, the mystery remains: why did Helps never mention this work or attempt to have it played when orchestras began to solicit him in the 1990's?

American Composer’s Alliance offers the (undated) score and USF Digital Collections propose the date 1955 — much later than what one would call juvenilia.
